    Mukwidzi Secondary wins Zvishavane Urban athletics

    - Mukwidzi Secondary, with a pupil population of just 216 has proved that numbers are not important when it beat large schools to be crowned the number one athletics powerhouse for Zvishavane Urban.
    Mukwidzi snatched 25 gold medals, 14 silver medals and 9 bronze medals to shoot to the top of the medals table.
    The competitions were held at Mandava High school on Thursday and Friday last week with eight schools participating.
    Moses Zulu who is the chairman of the urban zone athletics said he was happy with the competitions as they showed great improvement from previous years.
    As a result Mukwidzi will have the biggest number of athletes representing the Urban Zone at the National Association of Secondary School Heads (NASH) athletics competitions to be held on the March 4 and 5.
    The host Mandava high came second with 19 gold, 11 silver and 10 bronze. In third place was Dadaya high with 18 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze; George Chipadze Secondary school came fourth and had 11 gold, 12 silver, 11 bronze.
    The fifth place went to Ngomeyebani High which had 11 gold, 10 silver, and 5 bronze and on sixth place was Zvishavane High with 9 gold, 10 silver and 20 bronze and on seventh place was Chenhunguru with 4 gold, 6 silver, 7 bronze and anchoring the group was Mpumelelo High with 1 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze.
    Some of the events which the teams were participating in included track events, high jump, triple jump, long jump as well as shot put.
    Zulu applauded Mukwidzi Secondary school which although having the smallest student population came first.
    Simbarashe Siziwa of Ngoniyebani high school had the highest number of medals after he scooped 5 gold medals and Panashe Majoni scooped 3 gold medals and 1 silver and had the highest medals in the girls category.
    In high jump George Chipadze dominated in both boys and girls category, whilst Mukwidzi secondary school dominated in triple jump and shot put.sport
