    Mirror Reporter
Masvingo – Three Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) law students and their Dean of Faculty Victor Nkiwane are leaving the country today (Thursday March 3 2016) for Chicago University in the United States where they are going to become the first African country to be represented at the International Academy of Dispute Resolution Law School Tournament.
This is the 16th Edition of the tournament.
Blissful Dzimiri, Kudakwashe Muzenda and Ivy Madziwo who are all second year students will compete for honours with students from 60 other Universities from all over the World minus Africa.
....Nkiwane confirmed the trip in an interview with The Mirror on Tuesday morning. The competitions are taking place from March 8 to March 11 2016
The tournament will be taking place at Chicago Law School of Loyola University.
The competition is on mediation as a method of settling disputes. This is different mooting where people fight it out in the courts and there is a winner and a loser.
"With mediation parties appoint mutually acceptable mediator to bring parties to an agreed settlement. Both parties give and take and this means a good relationship can continue between parties after mediation. It is not a winner and loser situation," said Nkiwane.
He said that in the mediation process the students will take turns to become the mediator, the client and lawyer and they will be given points during the sessions and this will determine which University wins the competition.
"As universities we are only used to mooting where we have mock trials.
"As a new law school we are entitled to adventure. We have to be creative and this is why we are the first African University to be going for this tournament. We don't want to be just a law school," said Nkiwane.
Blissful Dzimiri and Kudakwashe Muzenda are in level 2,2 while Ivy Madzivo is in level 2,1.
They all promised to represent Zimbabwe and GZU in the best way they can.education news
