    CHAKA
    - Funds for the electrification of Chaka Rural Hospital have been mobilised, Chirumanzu North constituency MP, Innocent Pedzisai Munanzvi has said.
The electrification process was scheduled for February 2015.
"I have mobilised funds towards the electrification of the rural hospital for the benefit of the community. The power connection processes are at an advanced stage and we are expecting that by the end of this month, the hospital will be electrified."
Chirumanzu District Nursing Officer Jotam Chinyama also said he was aware that there are plans for the hospital to be electrified by end of February 2016.
Ward 2 Councillor, Marko Masocha said electrification of the hospital will improve service delivery hence a relief to the community that has depended on distant and expensive medical centres.
"Our community has been relying on Driefontein hospital for major medical examination processes because here, without electricity, it was impossible. I am hopeful that once the hospital is electrified, we can even ask for a doctor from the Ministry of Health so that patients will no longer travel for long distances to get medical service," he said.
Masocha said if the hospital is electrified, they have plans to construct a mortuary and other hospital structures that need electricity to function.
The hospital recently constructed a maternity ward to reduce child deaths on delivery.
Patients at the rural hospital are attended free of charge.
Chief Chaka hailed ward 2 councillor and the MP, Munanzvi, for working together well in trying to improve the social welfare of the community. local news
