    Mirror Reporter

A smooth-talking villager creamed off R995 760 and US$104 590 from 15 town dwellers who earn a living through money-changing deals that are synonymous with Beitbridge town.
A timid-looking Mvurachena Tadzembwa (33) who lives in Lutumba's  Rasboy Makubasina Village under Headman Mabhidhi of Beitbridge, who could easily pass for a cattle herd boy, told a Beitbridge Court that he only had $1 500 left from the huge amounts.
"I admit the charges," he told a packed courtroom presided over by resident magistrate Gloria Takundwa who will pass sentence on Friday February 26.
On 17 occasions Tadzembwa duped the 15 people, two of them twice, and walked away with huge amounts of money which he would say was going to either convert to United States currency or the South African currency.
On 18 December 2015 alone he duped Farai Adkence Sithole, Godfrey Makurudze, Willias Shumba, Theresa Sesedza and Maxwel Chipomo of R367 00, R121 00, US$9 800, R400 000 and R100 000 respectively telling them he would convert the money from one currency to the other.
The following day he creamed off US$8 000, US$3 700, US$4 000, US$3 550, US$4140,, US$1 100, R7 760, US$3 000 and US$10 000 from Onias Chatira, Forward Gundungwa, Leonard Mlambo, Edson Mapfumo, Wilbert Tavengwa, Percy Mahunde, Johnson Zhou and Siphiwe Sithole respectively.
Earlier, on December 6 Tadzembwa, also known as Mupostori, defrauded Siphiwe Sithole of US$11 000 using the same modus operandi he had also applied on Luckson Takaendesa and Mashudu Muleya to get US$12 400 and US$ 35 00 on July 23 2015.
Tadzembwa was arrested in Masvingo after globe-trotting in trips that saw him even going to spend quality time in Tanzania.
A first offender, Tadzembwa pleaded guilty to all but one charge where there is a conflict of figures although in principle he admitted to have defrauded Siphiwe Sitholeof some money.
Norma Sayi prosecuted while Tadzembwa was not represented.local news
