    POTRAZ donates US$48 000 equipment to RCZ institutions

    MASVINGO - Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ) run institutions received a boost when Postal Telecommunication Regulatory Association Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) donated specialized and customized equipment recently.
    The equipment was handed over to M Hugo primary and secondary also known as Copota by acting POTRAZ director Baxton Sirewu represented by Sibonginkosi Mutegiwa at the ceremony held at the institutions.
    The equipment included specialized computers that could be used by the visually impaired, brail material, printers, stationary, sun screen lotions, sanitary ware and groceries worth US$48 000.
     Mutegiwa said that education is the foundation to economic and social development and people living with disabilities also deserve to be part of the online world.
    "Education is the foundation to economic and social development, people living with disability also deserve to be part of the online world and we hope this equipment will help these children here," said Mutegiwa.
    Tapiwa Madamombe the high school head said the donations will definitely improve the operations at Copota.
    "The donation of braille equipment, computers, sunscreen lotions and groceries will definitely improve operations at Copota," said Madamombe.
    Madamombe also added that Copota is facing a lot of challenges such as nonpayment  of school fees by parents/guardians, Beam has since withdrawn its assistance, shortage of specialized equipment, unbalanced diet, ZESA bill arrears of $ 90 000, shortage of staff accommodation and salary arrears amounting to $10 000 are some of the challenges faced by the institutions.
