MASVINGO – Wilson Hungwe (49), the head of Bwanya Secondary School in Chivi who was reported missing on September 15, 2013 has been spotted in Masvingo.
He was walking aimlessly around the golf course on January 7 and he was identified to The Mirror by people who know him.
Hungwe whose dressing was not spot-on told The Mirror that he was in Harare looking for greener pastures and he is back in the province.
When he went missing in 2013 he allegedly sent messages to his wife Joyce Makoni indicating that he was abducted.
"Ndabatwa navakomana", read the message to his wife.
Former Police spokesperson, Chief Inspector Peter Zhanero confirmed the matter then.
On September 23, Hungwe sent another message saying that he had been given $40 by his abductors and had been released. However, Hungwe did not get home on the day prompting his wife to report the matter to the Police.
Hungwe is said to have left home to surf the internet in Masvingo on September 15 and did not return to the school. Efforts by the wife to get him on his mobile were fruitless as the phone went unanswered.
However, since then there has been no indication that he had been found.
Masvingo Police spokesperson Inspector Charity Mazula said the report that Hungwe is missing has not yet been cancelled and Police is therefore not aware that he has been found.
"Haaa I had migrated to Harare for greener pastures because the salary I was getting was not enough but I am back in Mashava. I will see you later guys I am on my way to Toyota Masvingo to meet someone for some deals," said Hungwe with a big smile.
At that time when contacted for a comment the wife said she was no longer interested in discussing the issue with the media because it was traumatising her.
"Baba havasi kuonekwa nanhasi ndakangomirira mapurisa kuti anoti chii. Handidi kuramba ndichitaura nezvayo nokuti inondirwadza," said Makoni before cutting off then. news
