    Chief Makore dies after 8 months in office



    •     Charumbira castigates family for succession disputes

    - Chief Makore (95) of Makore in Gutu has died after only eight months on the throne.
    Makore whose name is Shonhe Muzenda passed on last Wednesday and was buried this week on Tuesday at Gama Hill in Makore Village.
    Born on May 17, 1920 Chief Makore died at Masvingo General Hospital.
    Jestia Muzenda, Chief Makore's son said that he could not say the cause of his father's death but said he collapsed before being taken to hospital.
    Chief Makore was appointed by President Robert Mugabe on March 4, 2015 and he replaced Morosi Gwema of the Risipambi house who passed away in December 2009.
    Chief Charumbira who spoke at the funeral berated the family for failing to resolve their succession disputes. He said that it took six years for Muzenda to get to the throne after the last chief because of succession disputes.
     "The reason why this area had no Chief from 2009 to March 2015 is because you all wanted to be chiefs and you were fighting each other," said Charumbira.
    Goodwill Chipika the assistant provincial administrator also lamented the Makore people for their long-running chieftainship disputes.news
