    – Vendors in Masvingo are claiming that demands for bribes by cops have gone up in December after Police failed to get their bonuses which they expected last month.
Vendors doing their business from Tsungai Building and other nearby buildings in Masvingo have inundated The Mirror complaining against Police officers who come to them and openly demand for bribes.
According to the traders, this started early December and the cops have been coming to their tables demanding for licences or bribes.
Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Charity Mazula said there was no such report that had come to the Police's attention.
"These Police officers are coming to our tables and asking for licences, if we fail to produce the licence they then ask for at least $10 so that they will not arrest us," said a vendor who declined to be named for fear of victimisation.
"I have not received such information. If it's true and evidence is brought before us the concerned officers will certainly be dealt with.
"We will do serious investigations on the matter," said Mazula.
The vendors told The Mirror that the said officers were refusing to produce their identification cards.news
