Mwenezi - Firebrand Mwenezi politician and Minister of State for Masvingo, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti has won elections to be the district's representative in the Zanu PF Central Committee despite spirited efforts by alleged members of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) to intimidate voters.
Bhasikiti, one of the few in the Mujuru camp who has stood up to the bullying in the party beat Webster Muzara believed to be of the Mnangagwa faction by 73 votes to 69.
The Mirror is reliably informed that there was heavy intimidation at the elections where Colonel Hungwe and Major Moyo instructed delegates not to vote for Bhasikiti because he was allegedly linked to the assassination plot against President Robert Mugabe.
Efforts to get a comment from ZNA were fruitless.
The Mirror understands Hungwe's full speech intimidating the delegates has been captured on tape.
Bhasikiti confirmed the results but expressed his displeasure at the margin of victory and attributed this to the intimidation.
Asked whether there was no plot to clandestinely remove him from Central Committee after this election, Bhasikiti said there was a planned demo against him on Saturday but he dismissed it as nonsense.
"That is nonsense. No one from outside Mwenezi can tell people who to represent them. No one can tell lies," said Bhasikiti.local news
