    - The Minister of Energy and Power Development, Dzikamai Mavhaire has donated 200 desktop computers to 20 schools in Masvingo District; a move which he said was aimed at promoting effective education management through an electronic information system.
Some of the schools that are going to benefit from the donation include Mapanzure, Zivezano, Chirichoga, Rukovo and Ndarama high and secondary schools.
Mavhaire made the donation at Ndarama High School in Masvingo on Friday last week at a function attended by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Lazarus Dokora and his permanent secretary, Constance Chigwamba, Walter Mzembi who is the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality and the acting provincial education director, Fadzai Jirivengwa.
Hundreds of people including parents were also present at the function.
Speaking at the occasion, Mavhaire said the donation was to ensure that all pupils were empowered with computer skills and that all pupils get the same quality of education across the whole country.
"We want all our pupils to be at the same level when it comes to e-learning the whole country. Do not blame yourself and do nothing. Let us support our children so that they can go beyond on what we have achieved so far.
"We want all schools to have computers and even the communities around the school to access the internet, so that we have people who are computer literate who can compete with others effectively," said Mavhaire.
He added that he had plans to procure more computers for the whole province to cater for the few schools that were left out in this program.
Speaking at the same function Dokora thanked Mavhaire for the generous donation, which he said had played an important role in complementing the donation of the state of art computers by the President Robert Mugabe in support of school computerisation programme some ten years ago.
"I hope this donation is going to raise interests in students to learn more using computers. Our learners in both primary and secondary schools should not just be exposed but work through the world of computers in sustainable computer programmes," said Dokora.
Dokora was the Guest of honour at the handover ceremony.education
